Every business maintains financial records that help us to understand how well it’s doing. In this course, you’ll learn how to read them.

You’ll explore a range of financial statements – focusing on income statements, statements of financial position and cash flow statements. You’ll also investigate the different branches of accounting and learn to identify who else in the business uses this accounting information.

What do these statements contain? What do they reveal? Who makes use of them? This course will help you to answer these questions.

Winfred is a lecturer in Accounting at Coventry University. He presently teaches on various accounting modules and his research interests are in ownership structure developments in emerging markets.

Let's begin our learning journey by introducing what accounting is and its different branches. You'll also identify different users of accounting information and their requirements.

Financial statements?

You'll now explore what financial statements are and their qualitative characteristics. You'll also look at a case study and focus on reliability and relevance, two core characteristics of financial statements.

Income statement?

We'll move on to examine the income statement, one of the major financial statements. You'll explore its content and purpose and discuss the key principles and issues when interpreting the information it contains.

I was looking for something which will help me to understand the companies quarterly results. This is exactly what I needed!

For a beginner like me. It has lot of value in better understanding financial statements.

The Language used can be more simplified so as to be easily understandable by non subject persons.

Its a great course to understand financial related various statement i.e. Balance sheet, cash flow statement etc.
